Engrossing and intriguing suspense

This is a wonderful action-packed novel of a woman's quest to fulfill a promise she made to her dying grandfather. But Kiera is not the only one who wants the treasured statue she seeks. With two men who will stop at nothing on her trail, her quest is turned into a riveting, suspenseful hunt. The exotic East Asian setting is beautifully rendered, warts and all, not only with sights and sounds, but also with history, politics and culture. I particularly liked the details about the Hmong people and the elephants. The story also has a structural beauty to it, with the subtle mirroring of Kiera and the mythical figure. I will definitely read this author again!

This was a GREATstory!,

I have never read this author before, and was I surprised! This was an awesome read. I am a die-hard romantic suspense/erotica reader and this is definitely NOT my usual.
Heavy on the action, adventure, and the history! Oh my God! What a well researched book!
There is not a whole lot of romance, but the book didn't need it.
This would make a great movie!
I will definitely be taking another look at this authors books!

Lost wars are never over

Kiera goes to Indochina to find an airplane that had crashed in the jungles of Laos. The last CIA flight out of Saigon at the end of the Viet Nam war, it contained a golden statue treasured by the Buddists. Kiera's grandfather, who had been on the plane, gave her a map before he died and asked her to go find the plane and take the statue back to its people.
Other people are interested in the plane and Kiera hires Porter Vale and others along the way to help her in her search. They have to constantly hide from Cole, a man obsessed with getting the statue. This is very much an action thriller that takes place in an unusual setting. Besides becoming friendly with rice paddies and river dolphins, Kiera and Porter are forced to work together in this jungle quest. Recommended.
