This is truly a step-by step guide to how to build your own Earthship. Very understandable, with pictures for each step. Be aware that this is the first in a series, so you will only learn about the tire work in this one.

I saw the pattern on this and thought it would be really cute to make. The only thing is, I don't find the directions all that easy to understand but luckily there are pictures that I can follow to make the scarf look similar.

My 12 year old daughter fell in love with this scarf! So now I have to make one for her. The first I made for myself. I did 200 sts long, It's big! I used almost a pound of yarn for it. But it should be warm for the cold weather in Alaska!

Not just for kids!

Every kid I know loves learning about animals, and mine are no exception. I'm not sure who enjoyed this book more; me or my boys.

I was pleasantly suprised to see that most of the animals were unfamiliar me. We all learned quite a bit, and the pictures were great! My kids cracked up when they saw the schnoz on that Probiscis monkey in the first chapter. After that, they had to see the rest of the book. Highly recommended!

Short, Sweet, but Satisfying!

I love reading about animals and therefore this short book satisfies and informs of some pretty cool creatures. Since I read the Kindle Fire edition, I decided to only give it a three star because the video links that accompanied each animal took much to long to load and play from the YouTube sites. I tested the YouTube Videos 'directly' from the same reader and they loaded much faster, so I assume the time differences were the "middle-guy" links from the book. Hey, three out of five ain't bad. The book is a good little read!

Great for Home Schooling - Very Entertaining

My kids love nature and I'm always looking for ways to make their home learning more fun. I saw this book and thought what the heck, lets take a look. I really thought I knew a lot about nature. I have ead enough and watched enough Animal Planet to think that I would know most of these animals but that the kids would still learn something.

I was really surprised. I think I might have seen 1 or 2 before but the rest were completely new to me. Some of the information provided about them was really entertaining and fascinating.

I really enjoyed this little book and I think you will too.

The nature of good and evil is explored in ways that led to the Saga's banning for either religious or political reasons in much of Western Europe for centuries. Ironically, a more careful reading of a wider swath of "Thetian" canon affirms the time-honored truths and values taught by the Church and upheld by the best of nations.The Harbinger of Doom Saga presents a vast, complex world populated by a myriad of memorable characters, and beset with magic, monsters, mystery, myth, and mayhem. It is epic fantasy on its grandest scale. Dropping a reader somewhere amidst that maelstrom is a daunting prospect for author and reader alike. To ease the entrance, I begin the telling with the novella, The Gateway, which is decidedly not epic in scope but introduces some of the most beloved characters of the Saga, showcases Theta at his finest, and features the realistic, gritty action the Saga is known for, while also hinting at the wonders and mystery that define the ancient world of Midgaard. I've done lots of things. I've gotten degrees and taken advanced courses in various fields: physics, engineering, religious studies, history. Entertaining and engaging

Entertaining and engaging, Gateway to Nifleheim by Glenn G. Thater enthralls from the very beginning. I had read the novella version of this book, The Gateway, and was intrigued to see the release of the full-length version of the story and purchased it immediately. I am so glad I did! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action-filled fantasy/sorcery tales.
Monsters enter the Earth's realm through a mysterious portal, intent upon chaos, and set the stage for vividly described battles scenes so well written, the reader will feel as if s/he is fighting alongside the brave knights from House Eotrus.

epic reading

First, I was given a copy of this for review.

The book reads like Beowulf and other hero tales. The mainhero is named Theta, a mysterious hero type and whom says very little in the on going story.

The other hero, Gabriel is of the same as well. Both have little to say, but show the others how to win against extreme odds. The mix of magic, warriors and Daemons made the book well worth reading. This is well written and the style made it very easy for me to "see" the lands, knights and deeply enjoy the battle's.

There are 4 more books to this group, which I am looking forward to reading.

Gordon Ramsay is a world-renowned chef who was awarded 3 Michelin stars for his Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London. It's almost the same book

I'd like to mention that the ULTIMATE COOKERY COURSE and HOME COOKING books from Gordon Ramsay are almost the same book! The second book is in fact an adaptation for the US market.

This review is in fact NOT a review or an evaluation of the books. It's only showing the numerous but minor differences between them:
- the first book is the original book published for the UK market (august 2012), the other is an adpatation for the US (april 2013)
- their covers are slightly different but images, texts, page layout, recipes are EXACTLY identical. There is even a matching page to page
- the original uses metric measures (grams, millilitres, cm), the adaptation uses imperial measures (cups, ounces, pounds, inches). Both use tsp and tbsp for small quantities
- the original uses °Centigrade with gas level, the other °Fahrenheit: 200°C/Gas 6 becomes 400°F
- some ingredients are named/translated differently: double cream becomes heavy cream, caster sugar becomes sugar, spring onions become scallions, pak choi becomes bok choy, coriander becomes cilantro, kale becomes swiss chard, plain flour becomes all-purpose flour, fillet of beef becomes beef tenderloin, tenderstem broccoli becomes baby broccoli, chillies becomes chiles, cep mushrooms become porcini, demerara sugar becomes brown sugar, courgette becomes zucchini, cornflour becomes cornstarch, icing sugar becomes confectioner's sugar, bicarbonate of soda becomes baking soda, biscuits becomes cookies, pudding rice becomes short-grain white rice, etc.

- the adaptation brings sometimes nice but little corrections in the codification of the recipes
- the adaptation has more entries in its index

If you ask me which version I prefer ? Not easy to say! Probably the original one with the exact original metric measures. But it's a matter of taste ...

Great Book (but a reprint of the 2012 UK book)

This is a great book, but be advised, that if you bought the 2012 Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Cookery Course, which was published in the UK in 2012, this is exactly the same book, but with the measurements and temperatures converted (for the most part) for American readers,

I bought this for my Kindle anyway, because now I have a portable version on my phone, and I can decide what to make before I go home, and look at the ingredients when I go shopping. It's also more convenient to have the measurements in ounces and the temperatures in Fahrenheit instead of Centigrade, but there are a few omissions to the translation, so be on the alert if a temperature seems too low (if it's below 300, it's in centigrade).

I love all of Ramsay's cookbooks. The recipes are easy to make and each one tastes delicious. The presentation is well-designed and easy to read. His timing estimates are always right on the money. My only quibble with the books is that there is duplication of recipes from one book to another. That being said, this is the biggest and most complete, and offers a wide range of recipes and ingredients, I have made approximately a 20% of them at this point - all to rave reviews. Highly recommended if you don't already have the 2012 book.

The recipes are delicious and Gordon Ramsay is a genius.The book goes perfectly with the show (which also happens to be on youtube). You can watch the recipes being made while he teaches handy tips I've never seen before in the kitchen. Everything is simple and usually takes about 20 minutes to cook.

Nothing happends in this story ....Nothing...very boring

I have read almost all of Mr. Woods books ( I get them from the library) this is certainly one of his worst books. Basically nothing of any interest happens to Stone Barrington in this novel. I would not waste your time with this story. Unfortunately I think Mr. Woods has seen his better days. He has gotten very lazy in his writing ( How else could he have 4-5 books published each year). The characters are are dull and very little if any back story is given. I read these books as if they are comic books with out the pictures, but no more, even a free Stuart Woods is not worth the time I have to invest in reading it. It takes about 3 hours to read it and probably only took Mr. Woods 6 hours to write it. I bet he just drinks a large glass of Knob Creek and dictates the book ( he does mention Knob Creek at least 5 times so I hope he is getting free whiskey from them)..... all is all this is a bore of a book. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

this is without doubt the most boring tale I have read this year - too much talk and a laughable plot - a waste of paper . the previous Barrington book was a page turner - this is not - it was not all gloom - the Authors Note was a real hoot

I always enjoy reading Mr. Woods books and they usually keep me intrigued to the point that I don't want to stop reading until I have read the entire book. This book, however, lacked the mystery and suspense that Stone Barrington's storyline normally have. I found it very boring.

Before John Gray and Robert Bly; before Warren Farrell, Robert Glover and Leonard Sax, there was Herb Goldberg whose classic work, "The Hazards of Being Male" was originally written as the male response to feminism s claim that oppression was for women-only.
In fact, this book by Herb Goldberg first became popular among female readers, who would often give the book to their male partners. Betty Friedan, the 'Mother of feminism,' who shared the stage with Dr. Goldberg in a 1979 program entitled "Men and Women; The Stresses of Transition," stated, "Every word Herb Goldberg says about the man-woman thing has been so on target that we have not had to waste any time on silly arguments."

According to Dr. Goldberg, "The women's liberation movement did not effect its astounding impact via self-hate, guilt or the desire to placate the male. Instead it has been energized by anger and outrage. Neither will the male change in any meaningful way until he experiences his underlying rage toward the endless, impossible binds under which he lives, the rigid definition of his role, the endless pressure to be all things to all people, and the guilt-oriented, self-denying way he has traditionally related to women, to his feelings, and to his needs."

Dr. Goldberg argued that men were in harness, conditioned by parents and society and often encouraged by women into such conflicting roles as aggressive businessman + compassionate husband; stressed-out breadwinner + attentive father; brave protector of family and country + sensitive male with a capacity for intimacy. Such impossible binds often crippled him both emotionally and physically and shortened his lifespan.

Introducing themes that have since become commonplace in discussions of masculinity, Dr. Herb Goldberg was the first to explain that...
Men use women as sex objects, but women use men as success objects;
Impotence is more likely an indicator of a man s emotional duress, rather than a physical malfunction;
Monogamy and marriage place unnatural binds upon the male which tend to keep him in a perpetually guilty state;
Women actually possess far greater flexibility than men in assertiveness, sexuality, clothing styles, career and family choices;
Playing the role of 'nice guy' leads to frustration and dehumanization;
Violence against men is far more prevalent than against women;
The more he works to support his family, the more a man tends to become alienated from them;
Because he traditionally assumed the active role, the man could be blamed as the heavy, the victimizer, and the destroyer;
The restrictive conditioning of young boys leads to the suppression of their emotions;
Divorce brings out a man s dependency and can be ruinous to his life.

Even after thirty years as an international best-seller, the brilliance of Dr. Goldberg s work remains undimmed. His insights are still relevant to men navigating the rocky road of relationships, marriage, and divorce and who are still struggling to define manhood in the post-feminist age.

Insightful book

When I read this soon after it first came out, I was amazed at the insights and wisdom it purveyed. I was so impressed with it that I've quoted it and referred many people to this masterpiece. I've been re-reading it recently and find myself distracted by the grammatical and usage errors. I would have thought after all these years this would have gotten more polished and finished in subsequent printings and editions. This said, the insights offered by this book are still valuable though dimmed by the editorial distractions. I recommend it to either men or women who are willing to learn more about how female-male relations can improve.

Great Book-Editor should be strung up.

I read this back in the 1980's when it first was released. The content is stellar with great observations regarding the male condition in our culture. Still very relevant today. What is highly disconcerting and the reason for only three stars is the editing and translating into electronic format. Contextual errors abound and make one wonder why anyone would spend money on the thing. Believe me if it was not for the content I would have returned the book. But I am painstakingly reading through the errors because the author knows his stuff. grrrrrr!!!!
