Incredible

I had to read Romeo and Juliet for school and the book the gave us was AWEFUL. So I got this one and EVERYTHING was made simple. All the puns and terrible humor was easily told in english i could understand... any one who want to read Romeo and Juliet with out complications, you NEED to get this book ASAP!!!

Having the original text, as well as the modern English tranlation, together was so very helpful! I am a special education teacher, teaching both inclusion and resource freshman English. Having the combination so close together made explaining everything so simple. I was able to not only show the students the beauty of the Elizabethan language, but explain to them what was being said in words and phrases they could better understand. Some of the language still had to be broken down to make it understandable to those who are lower level readers, which was why I was unable to give it a five-star rating. When it said "The Easy Way," I was expecting the content to be a bit more understandable to students who struggle to read. However, it did make it easier for me to break it down for them after I read it aloud. I would reccommend this to anyone studying this play if they are having a hard time understanding the language. Thanks for all of the help!

The book provided great themes for discussion on the play

I brought this book to help my teenager with his encounter with Romeo and Juliet in English class. We read it out-loud to each other. The book provided great themes for discussion on the play. I believe that it helped him with his English class. I would say that some people may not be excited about the base nature of some of the statements and references in the dialog. Those people truly familiar with Shakespeare's plays will know that he did write characters true to Elizabethan values. Overall I enjoyed the book very much and so did my teenager.
