"We only need the money"

Scalzi is a great writer, and I've enjoyed his full length books. This series, although Scalzi's character and plot development are on track, is just a transparent effort to cop 13 bucks for an ebook.
C'mon, John, either get back to writing or switch to infomercials. You're better than this.

I'm not a fan of serial books

A few reviwers have commented "this reads like a chapter" and that's because it is.
Scalzi has basically taken a novel and released it as 13 sections (chapter it seems like) at a time. I've now read the first three chapters and while I'm enjoying them I don't plan to buy the rest.
That's partly because if I buy them as they are released, I forget what's going on between readings, so I suggest if you suffer memory lapses like me, you get them all at once and read them all at once (which has its own little niggle that you need to keep dropping out to "Home" on your Kindle to load up the next chapter). It also means I lose my emotional link to the players so I'm not as invested in finishing the whole thing.
But mainly beause they are expensive. That dollar adds up per-chapter and while Scalzi is a good writer, there are many equally good writers for less.
So, nothing against Scalzi per se, or his storyline it seems good, and I'll keep a look out down the track for the complete set in a single volume (and hopefully for about $6, that seems a good price to me).

Keep em coming...

Third episode of The Human Division, a bit stronger than the last episode and starting to bare some teeth into where this is heading. Being a newbie to Old Man's War series I don't feel lost without having any prior knowledge to the series, and I'm intrigued by what John Scalzi has created here. Now I have to wait another week, damn....
