Caught in a tangled web of lies, fearing pursuit by her brothers and incarceration in a convent for her misbehavior, and plotting revenge against the dastardly Raymond, Esmie finds herself willy-nilly on the road to Philadelphia with the handsome captain, who is alternately exasperated and amused by her antics. While not up to her usual standard--much of it reads like a rehash of her previous series--Brown's latest is nonetheless an enjoyable light and frothy historical romance with plenty of her trademark sass, down-home descriptions, and verbal sparring. Choices by Carolyn Brown

The first book in a great series, this book has all the pertinent information to start the reader on a great journey. It has all the elements of mischief, humor and passion of a great read. I would recommend this book to begin with and read the rest of the series for a happy ending. They all deserve a five star rating.

I cannot get over people writing a beautiful love story and think the "F" word has to be used. Reading nearly to the middle of the great story and completely killed the whole story...Sorry but it is bad review for a beautiful story.
