Great Deal!

When I saw the price and the list of books included I thought this had to be too good to be true, but it's not! It really does include ALL of the books listed. The table of contents is easy to navigate too. I am so happy I found this!

Best $3 ever spent!

This is the best $3 I ever spent on a Kindle Edition book. It's not just one book- it's 19 books in one, besides countless other short stories and poetry by L.M. Montgomery. You get all 8 Anne books, all three Emily books! (The Emily books have always been my favorite). I just wish you got the 2 Pat of Silver Bush books (Not included). Besides all the books included there are unique photos of L.M. Montgomery, houses she's lived in. They show original covers for each book and other cover editions. You get so much content for just $2.99! Best purchase I've made for my Kindle Fire HD yet.

Regarding the Kindle edition: Awesome! The Table of Contents works properly. The text itself is pretty clean and almost totally error-free; I think there might have been the rare misplaced punctuation mark, but it was, as I said, rare. I'm fussy about e-book formatting and I thought this edition was pretty good. The limitations I experienced were the limitations of my device.
Regarding the books themselves:
The "Anne of Green Gables" series is a classic, and I have a fairly high tolerance for "older" books. These books are set in Victorian times, so it's not *that* old, but, you know, there's a certain innocence (or naivete, if you want to call it that) that makes the work seem a tad dated. The morality in the books is uncomplicated; the jokes/playfulness are all clean and wholesome; there isn't ever any real threat to the characters we are invested in. (Or maybe I'm just a jaded 21st century reader; who knows.)
It's definitely a story largely about girls and women; boys and men are rarely developed characters. Even Anne's love interest, Gilbert, despite a promising start in the first book, is largely two-dimensional. That said, the female characters are vibrant and varied, and the occasional male character that *is* fleshed out (Capt. Jim in "Anne's House of Dreams") is fun to read about.
Montgomery's writing tends sometimes to be too effusive, too generous in the use of simile, but the language is lucid, fluid and well controlled for the most part. I've read most of the series two or three times over, and really enjoyed it.
