admit that he had a great time along the way. From the first toke to a
dealer of ounces. Then, the first pound, traveling from Florida to
Massachusetts with a tourist from Boston. Up the ladder to
multi-ton transactions--and bringing the 'evil weed' from the Bahama Islands,
Mexico, and Colombia, South America. One big bash that led to prison.
This is not a 'whiny, poor me' story. This is a tale of fun-filled
adventures--complete with lost boats, lost aircraft, and the successful
multi-ton offloads. These guys used everything available for
transport. From helicopters to burros. The true story of everything
that can go wrong and the elation when everything goes right. A good time
was had by all. Except prison. That was not much fun.

In a moment of boredom, I picked the book up. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Hugh Yonn was sent to a federal prison after being convicted of a conspiracy to move and distribute over 12,000 pounds of marijuana. He gives us a humorous, witty, and even occasioanlly gut-wrenching look at life within federal prison walls. He has a way of making you feel like you could relate to him (and I am the wife of a prison guard, of all things!).
Very well written and engaging. My only complaint -and this is a big one- is that 'Welcome to Prison...' is way too short. Hugh only shares the first year of the four years he spent behind bars. What happened during the rest of his stay? What happened when he was released? Where was his family during these years?
Hugh..I hope you will consider writing and sharing the rest of your story. This reader would definitely purchase it!

I was in Federal Prison for 5 years for a marijuana offense. No, it was not for simple possession. I was arrested aboard a Lockheed PV2 in Marianna, Florida--charged and convicted for conspiracy to import and distribute 12,000 pounds of marijuana.
I wrote about the escapades that led to my incarceration.
I admit, I had a great time.
No one was injured, no one was killed, firearms were not involved--there were no victims.
We were Americans--doing what Americans do best--living free.

Excellent Read

Very Humorous take on life behind bars. Reads like a bunch of short stories. It also is an insight into the absurdity of this country's drug laws.

This was a fast paced read that was a little simple but enjoyable. I was a little disappointed to find out it wasn't based on a true story, but that's my own fault for assuming it was. It seems like it was vague on details but overall it was fun but not memorable.
