Neil Hunter is a pseudonym of the prolific Lancashire-born writer Michael R. Linaker. As Neil Hunter, Mike wrote two classic western series, BODIE THE STALKER and JASON BRAND. Under the name Richard Wyler he produced four stand-alone westerns, INCIDENT AT BUTLER’S STATION, THE SAVAGE JOURNEY, BRIGHAM’S WAY and TRAVIS. Another western, HIGH KILL, was later published in the SUNDANCE series as BOUNTY KILLER. His western output can also be found under the names ‘Dan Stewart’, ‘John C. Danner’ and ‘Frederick H. Christian’, the latter name employed when he ghost-wrote an additional five titles in Frederick Nolan’s popular FRANK ANGEL series. Mike has written three ‘nasty’ horror novels under his own name, but since the late 1980s has become best-known as one of the most popular contributors to Gold Eagle’s MACK BOLAN series, chronicling the adventures of PHOENIX FORCE, THE EXECUTIONER and STONY MAN, as well as his own action-adventure series, CADE.

A Little Mystery Combined With Catch Me if You Can.

A beautiful woman hired Jason Brand to guide her through hostile Indian country to find her husband who has gone missing in that area. What she really wants to do is locate her half breed brother who is hated by the white folks and the Apache Indians. The brother has basically turned wild and is killing everyone and destroying everything he finds. Neither the Army nor the Apache Indians can catch him. Unknown to the woman who hired Brand, Brand is sent out there by the US Government to "act" as her guide so he can find and take down the renegade. This is a story full of tension!

FIRST ASSIGNMENT

Well Jason Brand is on his first official assignment, and he's feeling pretty good about himself. He's been assigned to track down a killer named LOBO, who is part Apache and white. He has a half sister who is also looking for him. She looking for a guide, and that's where Brand offers his services. Well they take off for the mountains where Lobo disappears after raided, slaughter. These acts weren't just against the whites, he raided the Indians also..This guy Lobo did not discriminate. He was mad at everyone he tried to live with the whites and they shunned him. I guess the Indians weren't much better. The Army, bounty hunters none could touch him. There was a bounty on his life dead/live for thirty thousand dollars, that was a lot of money in those days. But not many people were trying to cash in. No man really escapes Brand. He went through a lot trying to catch Lobo, and help his sister to try and connect with her stepmother..not good..Lobo is a psychopathy/sociopath no regards or feelings for anyone. I doubt if he likes himself, it seems he wants to destroy himself..very sad..Well Jason gets his man and everyone feels safer for the time being. Lobo murdered his sister in the canyon a d Jason couldn't do a thing because he suffered multiple head wounds while trying to capture Lobo, who escaped from his hide out. This certainly has been happy trails for Brand but he comes through with possible head fractures..who knows..you know to many blows to the head isn't healthy..So keep your campfires burning and your coffee strong...

Great shoot-em-up reading

This is a great book on kindle. Aside of that he gets shot at and shoots up more sidewinders than a shooting gallery. Really a easy and good reading novel.
