Informative: That "Sidebar" of Information We all Need

This author has done his homework; he digs deep to understand the scriptures so that we may grasp not just his interpretations or that of the masters before him which each are great on their own, but what scripture is reaching out to tell us through reading scripture (Precept upon precept.) Too often when reading scripture only, we find ourselves lost (and confused) with the foreign names, places and meanings. Yet with David Guzik's commentaries, he provides us an aid that short cut per say to understanding God's written word within each verse, chapter, and book. He is careful to bring to mind the settings of the times, the cultural traditions, the laws of the land, as well as God’s and society’s makeup as a whole. This sidebar bit of information makes it real as if we could place ourselves there, we can see how it all fits together. I rely upon his research to help me do mine and help me deepen that relational ship bond with my Savior and God the Father. Without this understanding how can one know the Father and His Son and understand the whys. This is just one of those books that should be close at hand when reading your Bible.

David Guzik was my Pastor for about four years, before he went to Germany. He was and still is my "go to" commentary. Amazon.com has made available to those interested in studying the Bible, one of the best teachers that I've studied under. His books, on the "Books of the Bible" will be an eye opener for anyone wanting to go deeper in their understanding. Get ready to better know God's Word, you won't be sorry!

I find most of David Guzik's works/ commentaries to be great. I rank his Hebrews commentary lower than the others because his promotion of the ability to lose one's salvation is weak. I do personally disagree with his position on this issue but if his arguments were more solid then this commentary would deserve more stars because we can agree to disagree but simplistic dogmatic arguments are not enough.
